First Line Manager Fact Find

In this exercise, participants receive a concise brief together with information about a decision they are required to make. To facilitate this process, participants are given time to question a resource person (played by a role player) to gather information pertinent to the decision at hand. Once the decision is reached, the resource person then presents challenges aimed at assessing the decision’s resilience and soundness.

This scenario emulates an interactive session where the participant engages with another employee (played by a role player) to achieve a specific objective. Participants are given background information and a designated timeframe to prepare for the meeting. The participant is required to give feedback, conduct a performance review, or offer guidance to the employee. Competencies demonstrated: Decision Making, Leadership, Collaboration, Persuading and Negotiating, Presenting and Communicating Information, Meeting Customer Expectations and Working under Pressure. Exercise Administration- 10 minutes, Roleplay Preperation- 30 minutes, Roleplay- 30 minutes

Why is roleplaying so important in the hiring process?

According to research 46% of new hires will fail within 18-months and the average cost of a bad hire is in excess of £15,000. In fact the cost of hiring a bad middle manager on a salary of £42,000 has been calcuated at £132,000.

It is normal in the hiring process for biases such as the halo effect or confirmation bias to creep in which affects the interviewers ability to be objective. Too often we make hiring decisions because we like the person and we like what they say. Unfortunately this means we end up hiring people who 3-6 months down the line are not living up to expectations.
Interviews on their own are simply not an accurate enough way to determine suitability, capability and stretch. Adding a roleplay to your interview will save you thousands!

What happens in the roleplay itself?

Once your roleplay is booked and the dates confirmed, invititations (with login information) and detailed instructions are sent to your candidates and interviewers. All parties have their personalised agenda so your candidates can login and start preparing for the roleplay scenario within their allocated time.

At the allotted time your roleplayer will join the video room and conduct the roleplay, with your interviewers observing. Afterwards your roleplayer will debrief with you. You can also record the roleplay if you so wish.

Are the roleplayers real people?

Yes indeed! All our roleplayers are actual humans! Experienced individuals who have spent their careers working within the recruitment and L&D space.

How long do my credits last?

Your credits last for 12-months from the date of purchase and you can use them across any roleplay scenario.
